Mission Sol: Near-space Weather Balloon Project
For our young scientists, it is not enough to know that the climate is changing; we want to understand the impacts of climate change and human activity on urban sustainability and socioeconomics in our region. There is an urgent need to inspire and engage youth in atmospheric space research to answer these pressing questions, so we launch stratospheric weather balloons to near space to measure the role the sun plays in weather, atmospheric chemistry, and cloud formation. Your contribution supports our youth in designing 3D-printed payloads fitted with Raspberry Pi sensors and cameras, locating launch sites, and analyzing data to paint a picture about the sun’s role in climate change.
