How do I select a program that is right for me?
Science is a way of life and without knowing it, our youth are already using science throughout their day. All our programs build on themselves and emphasize how the fundamentals of science can be applied as a problem solving tool. The young mind is curious, and we encourage exploration, discovery and collaboration. We mentor youth at their level of knowledge and interest in a particular subject area, building confidence and self-esteem. Choosing the right program level can be challenging, but we suggest the following rules when making your decision. As always we are here help so please reach out to our team at [email protected] with any questions. We look forward to seeing you all soon at YSA 'doing science'.
ExplorerBeginner level programs perfect for upper elementary youth starting out in science or for the young scientist wanting to try something new. These programs start in the fall and continue throughout the school year. Classes will focus on the fundamentals of science through hands-on lab activities and field exploration with a goal of emphasizing the process of science and how science applies in their everyday lives.

AmbassadorsOur highest and most challenging level for the serious and enthusiastic young scientist. Building on learned concepts at the 'Explorer' level, youth will begin to apply critical thinking and the scientific method to understanding research themes and issues. Will kickstart their understanding of the science curriculum at school. Students will be mentored by YSA scientists, and undertake individual and group research projects examining climate change, urban sustainability, and other topics. Students will be recommended or invited to join this program.
