Fast Fashion

Over the years, clothing has gotten more affordable and more accessible,  and this is due to the creation of the "fast fashion" industry. While this may sound great on the surface, the fast fashion industry is affecting the environment in many undesirable ways.

I used Python coding to create a map of all of the areas where there are the most textile factories, and how it has changed over the past 60 years. There are factories in countries such as China, Bangladesh, and India. Fast fashion pollutes water, creates tons of waste, and adds to warmer temperatures. Most of the clothes are provided by people working long hours for very low pay, sometimes in dangerous conditions. We’re encouraged to buy more than we need and throw it away fast. If we want a healthier environment and fair treatment for people, we need to stop supporting fast fashion.
