Position: Lab Assistant, After-School and Summer Camp Program
The Young Scientist Academy is hiring motivated, dedicated, and responsible people to fill several part-time Lab Assistant positions in our After-School and Summer Camp programs for children in grades 3-8.
- Leading students with lab experiments and other research activities
- Supervising field sampling expeditions to local coastal sites
- Facilitating processing of samples
- Helping provide a safe, secure, and fun environment through sign-in and sign-out responsibilities; helping with set-up and clean-up
- Participating in paid staff meetings and trainings outside of regular hours
After-School Program Lab Assistants are needed Monday and Thursday afternoons (2:30-6 PM), and occasional evenings for trainings or other events. Additional days will be made available depending on future enrollment. Summer camps will be held M-F 8:30 AM–4 PM, starting June 5.
The Young Scientist Academy (YSA) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation, with over 20 years of global experience in scientific and education research. In a fun and creative environment, we provide opportunities for children to engage their innate interest in the natural world. YSA provides real research experiences through collaboration with each other and PhD-level researchers.
Minimum Requirements: Valid driver’s license, enrolled in or completed bachelor’s degree in an education or science field. Background checks are required.
Preferred: First aid and CPR certified, completed a course in marine or environmental science, experience with educational programs.
